I am great fan of Sony Ericsson. Mainly I use mobile for internet access. After losing my k550 in sea in last cox’s Bazar tour, i decided to buy new SE phone. Then i brought SE S312 for its nice design and low price. But it confused me a lots when i found that there was no CD and data cable with the mobile. I downloaded latest PC suite from SE site but the PC suite can not recognize my S312 mobile. I called GP and SE service center for help. Unfortunately they can not do so much for me. How can i use this phone as modem?
At last, i have got the solution with the help of my colleague. I follows below steps,
1. Call mobile service provider for internet setting(Wap & internet setting is not same) of the phone.
2. Download USB driver for s312 from here.
3.Install the Driver. Follow the instruction. Do not connect mobile with cable until prompt by installer.
4. After successfully installing the driver, check the phone modem.
Right Click My Computer>Hardware>Device Manager>Modems
If your day is not bad, You will get Sony Erricsson Mobile Device modem.
Note that your phone is connected with data cable properly
5. Right click Sony Erricsson Mobile Device, click Diagnostics Tab, then click query Modem
Modem will response it status.
6. Then click Advance. Write belows Extra Setting to Connect,
For Grameen Phone(Bangladeshi Mobile Operator):
AT+cgdcont=1,”ip”,”gpinternet”
Here “gpinternet” is the APN name of the Grameen phone.
For Airtel (Indian Mobile Operator):
AT+cgdcont=1,”ip”,”airtelgprs.com”
Here, “airtelgprs.com” is the APN name of the airtel phone. For other operator, you have to know the APN name of the mobile operator.
For other operator, you have to know the APN name of the mobile operator.
7. Click Okay.
8. Go Control Pannel>Network Setting >Create New Connection
9. Create a new connection with *99***1# or *99# dialing number(For Grameen phone). This number can be different depending on mobile operators. It’s is better if you take help from corresponding mobile operator’s customer care to create a new connection.
10. Then connect the PC to the internet.
11. Thanks good, it save my phone from dumping.
This setting is also helpful for w302(No CD & Cable Package). For w302, you need to download USB-Modem driver form SE Service Center.

Hi iuse s 312 too. my problem is how to use ebuddy, ym and other java aplication. i can’t use it on my phone.

I do not get any problem in you diagnosis file. Your modem is okay. You need to create a internet network connection correctly. You can take mobile provider assistance for that one.

S312 need to configure manually to use as modem. Here i use AT command string to configure modem for connection.
Click Advance tab of the modem properties and add connection string in Extra Setting box.

I think I found a way.
Just by using Bluesoleil 1.6 (very old..) and a bluetooth key (round and blue one).
The tool allows to transmit .vcf files. You can send 100 in one move.

then press ok and make a dial up connection with*99***1# then done ……….

I am using Windows 7. I’ve installed drivers under compatibility for Win Vista, otherwise they won’t install.
Once the modem is recognised, right click properties -> hardware -> properties -> advanced
and type
AT+cgdcont=1,”ip”,”internet”
where “internet” is my APN provider, yours are different
When connecting using dial up connection check again to have the right username and password for your provider. And you will no longer receive 777 or 692 error.
My APN service provider is “internet” in Slovenia Europe. Username “mobitel” and password “internet” again.
For your APN just find “APN number your provider” and you will get all data needed.

I brought sony ericsson s312 handset because i like sony ericsson mobile phones..but s312 is not like other sony ericsson phones,though varieties of pc suit installed it doesn’t recognize and detect s312..other main drawback of this model is the videos in the gallery plays on tiny screen which is not necessary at all,it makes s312 very very slow as we store more videos..i dont know who gave manufacturers this idea. sony ericsson must unleash new pc suit for s312 to solve users pboblem.

PC suit 6.0 itself does not detect your S312.PC shows usb modem.Do not waste your time. Also no themes you can install. So enjoy your GPRS in your Opera mini. Will wait for new sony’s software update.

And also you create a separate network connection in your opera mini 5 set up. In that java certificate you put “Ask once” for everything. Then opera will work.

Then open My computer-properties-Device manager-Modems-Sony Ericsson Mobile device
Right click on it
Choose Properties
Go to diagnostics, click on Query Modem
Then it will show AT success.
That means your modem is connected and working properly.
Then go to Advanced Tab

First gr8 thks Abul Khayer. I have read the post before 3 months, and tried in my win 7 64 bit os but results in hardware failure. Now i changed my os to xp and found working fine.

Just got a problem on my s312. When i tried to use the built-in opera mini 4 on my unit it says to contact your operator for java setting. And unfortunately the operator dont know how could that be solved. Please if someone know how to fix this and what am i suppose to do to make this thing ok.. Thank you
